Evolution of Ros' Artwork
For a long time, all of my images were created with just pen & ink. Black and white was the only way to go, and you couldn't convince me otherwise. But as the years past, I began to take a realistic look at the lack of selling power that black & white art has over colored. If I wanted to truly pursue an art career, color was going to have to get involved.
And so, I went to the art section of a college bookstore in my hometown and began taking a guess as to the best way to create my images in color. There before me was a wall of paint brushes, oils, acrylics, watercolors, colored pencils, pastels, charcoals, how-to-paint books, canvases, smooth papers, rough papers, air brushes, cleaners, and color wheels to name a few. (Except for one introductory class in college, my art background was pretty much zilch.) I was absolutely overwhelmed. But I didn't want to continue with pen & ink. So, I took the plunge: picked out some acrylics, illustrations boards, paint brushes, and an air brush.
Within one week, I recreated my flagship piece of "Snag". After it completion, and coming out of the shock of having really painted that image solo, I was not only in amazement, but I was certain I had stumbled upon a style of art that I wanted all future images to reflect.
And, to this day, that style continues.
