Answers to Ros' Most Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What do you do in your spare time when not creating art?
I chase the kids around the house ‘til I’m blue in the face.
Q: How long did it take you to create “Shamoo—A Whale of a Cow”?
Four months. Four very long months of very little food and water. I basically sacrificed my health for that cow!
Q: Where do your ideas come from?
They’re usually found at surprise moments, like when you slip on a banana peel. And in that moment between slipping and landing, you see things like lions sleepwalking…..hey, what can I say, the imagination works in mysterious ways.
Q: Why is your wife, Vikki, not in the photograph with you and the kids on the inside jacket of “Shamoo”?
Okay, I’ll admit it—I messed up! I just thought it’d be kinda kid-friendly if the photo for a children’s book had just the happy author cradling his loving dog (“Rubbi”), while gathered with his adorable children. All I’ve heard since then is, “Hey Ros, where’s Vikki?” Sorry Vik’, my bad. But I’ll get ya in there next time.
Q: What’s your favorite sandwich?
Jiff peanut butter & Miracle Whip, stuffed with Fritos.
Q: Where did you learn to paint?
Entirely self-taught. Honestly, I’m amazed every time I complete an image. Did I really do that!?
